"artscene” is a comprehensive guide to locations in Milwaukee open to the public which exhibit original art. These venues range from major museums to coffee houses.

The“artscene” brochure Web site were produced as a collaborative public service
project by MVAR (Milwaukee Visual Artists Roundtable) and MARN (Milwaukee Artist Resource Network).

MVAR is a coalition of representatives from visual arts organizations in the greater Milwaukee area. MVAR’s purpose is to promote the visual arts and to raise public awareness and support. Its aims include strengthening the visual artist community by developing stronger associations, jointly defining and accomplishing goals, and by sharing knowledge and resources.

MARN is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing individual artists of all media with access to educational, financial and business related resources. MARN creates a support network for local artists by facilitating open dialogue and advocating to promote the arts.

MVAR and MARN would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed time, talent and funding for the 2001 and 2002 editions of “art scene” including the Harry F. and Mary Franke Idea Fund of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for providing the initial funds for the first “art scene” brochure and the Milwaukee Arts Board and Wisconsin Arts Board for providing funds for the 2002 edition.

Every effort has been made to be inclusive and accurate according to information supplied. There is no cost for being in the guide. To be considered for inclusion please call the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network at 414/433-1900.
